My husband was in a head on collision lastnight and was taken to your ER. His airbags deployed and he hit his head hard on the steering wheel. the ER did NOT give him a CT scan! Today his memory is ZERO and we took him to paoli hospital and he has a severe concussion and is getting multiple tests and scans done at paoli today. God knows what could've happened if we didn't get a second opinion! Law suit for sure!!! You assholes could've let my husband die or get seriously/permanently injured!!!
My son was recently in an accident that required a lot of stitches to his face! Instead of cleaning him up (like most hospitals would do in the emergency room!), they stitched him up and sent him home!!! For over a week he has not been able to get the blood off of his face that should have been cleaned off!!! I will NEVER EVER give this hospital a thumbs up for anything since this instance. I will avoid this hospital at all costs. There is Chester County Hospital in West Chester or Paoli Hospital in Paoli! Don't go here if you really want to be taken care of! Or, if you agree with this particular hospital episode, feel free! His girlfriend went to Paoli and got exceptional care!
I'm new to the area and had to visit the ER this past Saturday do to a severe leg infection. I was seen quickly and later admitted for a few days. Every single person I had interactions with were professional and considerate. While I was in the waiting room of the ER another patient arrived and while her husband was checking her in she started to have a seizure. I was surprised at the quick response of the medical staff from the back to see to her needs. I am definitely assured that if I need hospitalization I will be well taken care of there.
I unfortunately had to downgrade my 5 star review to a 1 star. My pleasant experience with Terry in admissions was overshadowed by what happened after my microdisectomy surgery on Wednesday the 4th. Everything was fine with the procedure until it was completed and I was moved off the operating table onto the bed. I woke up in a panick and sat up because I was still intubated in the OR and was trying to pull the tubes out of my throat because I was gagging and couldnt breath. I was pushed back down because I was panicking not being able to breath. They did it so they could remove the tubes. When I did get to the waiting room nobody even brought up the subject besides me for apologizing because I thought i did something wrong. I was told it was fine and I probably wouldn't remember it or the conversation about medication with the surgeon either because of the anesthesia. I remembered it all. I told my wife about it when I got back my room. She was very upset about the fact nobody told her about the incident and it was never reported. The nurse taking care of me seem surprised that nothing was mentioned. I didn't even have proper discharge instructions when I got released. The doctor had run into another surgery without writing anything up so I was given a generic set of release instructions that weren't specific to me and I went home. The next day I told some of my friends who have been in the medical profession for many years were shocked by what had happened and that it was never reported. It was suggested I contact the hospital and report what had happened. I called early Friday the 6th and was told an investigation would begin. I got a call back again later that day and was told the director of anesthesiology would be calling me back. I didn't get a call until Tuesday the 9th but he couldn't talk then and said to call him back on Wednesday the 10th. I called and talked to the director of anesthesiology on the 10th and what I thought was going to be an apology and me wanting to know what steps were going to be taken so it didn't happen to the next patient, turned out to be how my friends in the medical professional are wrong and its part of the normal process. He went on to tell me 30% patients wake up like I did. Nothing was mentioned or reported because I did not suffer any long term physical injuries or woke up in the middle of the procedure so it didn't need to be reported I was told. To him this an everyday occurrence and nothing was done improperly. All I wanted was an apology and steps would be taken so the next patient didn't go through what I did. I hope nobody does. It was a horrible experience to wake up like that and this wasn't my first surgery. Nothing like this had ever happened to me before. I know things like this happen but it's because I wasn't being monitored closely enough. He did say he would mention it to his team in a half hearted way to appease me. I sure hope 30 % of their patients dont wake up like that. To be told nothing was done wrong is infuriating. If it's true that Brandywine does not require an incident like this to be reported then they are unique because most hospitals do. And if it is true that is their policy then my opinion of the quality of their health care is they are probably the worst I have seen in a hospital, and I have been to a number of them. I will never use this hospital nor recommend this hospital to anyone after this kind of treatment. This whole review would have never happened if they just would have apologized and said steps were being made so it doesn't happen to someone else. I wasn't looking for money or to get anyone fired. A little honesty would have sufficed. I guess it was too much to ask.
My brother was here for 8 days and they couldn't fingure out what was wrong with him .they did exploratory surgery on his leg for no reason and they do not follow hippa laws, I was happy they gave me info when I called but I'm not his medical power of attorney or his emergence contact makes me think they give informant to everyone over the phone. It was the most aggregating experience and I won't even go into how slow they are at everything , if you want to live don't go here !!please
